Upcoming Second Collections

Feb. 5: Bishop’s Annual Appeal
Feb. 12: Second Collection for Local Charity

Exercise Program

We now have an exercise program in Walsh Hall every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 a.m. There is no registration or fee, and everyone is welcome to attend. Please bring a towel, water and a mat (or something similar) to lie on.

Permanent Deacon Training

The diocese will soon be interviewing and training the next group of men to be permanent deacons. Those interested should spend some time with their families prayerfully discerning if they are called to this ministry, and then speak to Fr. Eric. Candidates must have at least a high school diploma (or G.E.D.) and eventually be able to make monthly weekend trips to Dublin, GA. Deacon George Foster, the director of the training program, will be in our deanery in the near future to meet with potential candidates, and the date and location of that meeting will be posted in the bulletin. For more information, please call Deacon Foster at 706-651-8989, or email him at gfoster48@knology.net.

Interested in Becoming Catholic?

Those who have been attending Fr. Eric’s Catholic Faith Class and are interested in becoming Catholic should speak with Fr. Eric after Mass or after class as soon as possible. He needs to get some sacramental information from you.

Silver and Golden Anniversary Celebration

Couples celebrating Silver (25 years) and Golden (50 years, 65 years or more) Anniversaries are invited to a special Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah on Feb. 12 (World Marriage Day) at 11:30 a.m. Each couple will receive a certificate signed by the bishop. A reception follows the Mass for family and friends. Please contact Fr. Eric to register.

Tuesday Mass Schedule

Here is the Tuesday Mass schedule for the next few weeks:

Feb. 7 – 12:15 p.m. Feb. 14 – 6:00 p.m. Feb. 21 – 6:00 p.m.

Thursday Confessions & Mass (Candlemas)

This Thursday (Feb. 2) is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (a.k.a., Candlemas). Due to the Spaghetti Dinner, Mass will be at 12:15 p.m. rather than the usual 6:00 p.m. time slot. Likewise, Fr. Eric will not be able to hear confessions that afternoon, but will be available for confessions in the church from 11:30 a.m. until noon. People may bring candles for use in their homes to be blessed during this Mass.

Capital Campaign for Repairs & Refurbishing

So far 87 parishioners/households have made pledges for our Capital Campaign. As a reminder, we are raising funds for the care of our current church property. We greatly appreciate all the pledges and donations that have been sent in so far! We ask that people who have not yet made a pledge prayerfully consider doing so. There are white pledge cards and yellow donation envelops in the vestibule of the church. These can be filled out and mailed to the church office, or simply dropped in the collection basket on any given Sunday.

Would You Like to Give Some Input?

Do you have questions, concerns, suggestions, critiques, etc. concerning our parish and/or the ministries we provide? If so, please feel free to address the Parish Council at a regularly scheduled council meeting, or speak privately with Fr. Eric (call 985-6550 and leave a message if he is not there). The next Parish Council meeting will be Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. (in the Parish Center). We want everyone to feel that this is a parish where input is welcomed and voices are heard.

Vocations Prayer for our Diocese

O God, hear my prayer, and let my cry come unto you.  Bless our Diocese of Savannah with many priestly and religious vocations.  Give the men and women you call the light to understand your gift and the love to follow always in the footsteps of your priestly Son.  Amen.
