February 8th, 2011

Parish Council Meeting was held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Richard Fetterman opened the meeting with prayer.

Corrections were made to the January Minutes and were then approved. Phyllis distributed to each member an email from Fr. Eric regarding the corrections to the minutes included old and new business to discuss.

Members present: Mike Fuches, Phyllis Fuches, Andrew Ericksen, Lee Willis, Sharon White, Sandy Ghelarducci, Mary Ann Grose, Joseph Rodriguez, Rich Fetterman and Mary Walsh.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Spaghetti Supper: Fr. Eric and members were extremely pleased with how the Spaghetti Dinner went. There were reports from some people that there needed to be more sauce with pasta. It was mentioned to use a special measuring cup in order for the sauce.

The First Presbyterian Church has been reimbursed for the food expenses along with paying their staff who assisted. All members agreed that a 10% donation of the profit and a Thank You card be given to the First Presbyterian Church.

Members felt that a letter of thanks be given to the Parishioner who donated the meat for the dinner. It was decided for Fr. Eric to decide how to recognize the Parishioner's donation. Also the Hispanic Youth group was extremely helpful at the dinner. A Thank You card also needs to be sent to them for our appreciation for helping with the Spaghetti Dinner.
  2.

  3. Stained Glass Windows: Fr. Eric spoke to Celia last month and pointed out that the photos of the windows she has been sending for review did not display the names of the saints. She acknowledged that the contract stated that this was to be done, but for some reason thought that we had not confirmed it. She admitted that it was her oversight, and that she will fix the situation. We had originally suggested to her to have the names of the saints incorporated into the main panel of the windows. She stated she could do this in a way that is legible and still tasteful and be non-intrusive concerning the image of the saint. She stated that she will also include this in the windows that have already been completed (the Immaculate Conception and the St. John Fisher windows). Fr. Eric asked her to add the name to the Immaculate Conception window and email him a photo of it so that we can see exactly what she had in mind.

Richard mentioned that Cobb Funeral Home wanted to make a contribution for the stain-glass windows.

Also, another donation from the Parish has been made.
  4.

  5. Sound System for Walsh Hall: Mary Ann talked to Bruce Lee of Audio Seminar from Jacksonville, Florida. He told her that all we would need is an interface card ($250), type 5 cable and a television. He recommended that we would probably want to put the cable down. Mary Ann will be sending him pictures of our audio equipment.

With monthly expenses being more than collections received, everyone felt that maybe this should be put on hold for now. It was suggested to Joseph if the Hispanic’s could do some fundraisers.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Christmas Mass: Sandy mentioned that the "shut-ins" have enjoyed the Catholic Christmas Mass on the PBS television channel. Many did not know it was shown on television. It was mentioned that it be announced in the bulletin next year.
  2.

  3. Parish Center Siding Repair: Some of the siding on the Parish Center came off due to strong winds. Mike will look at it. Joseph will ask if any of the Hispanics would know how to repair the siding.
  4.

  5. Ladies' Guild: Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 10th.
  6.

  7. Bible Study: Sharon mentioned that they were beginning Exodus. She stated that Brian was doing an excellent job.
  8.

  9. Financial Report: The financial report was reviewed. As of the end of January, had $1,296.56 more than what was expended. Checking account balance was $9,558 and the Savings balance was $5,489. Richard also gave out a Fiscal 2009 Recap as of June 30, 2010 that will be mailed to each Parishioner. There was a net deficit of $11,833. There was a motion made by Phyllis and seconded by Sandy for a breakdown of operations be inserted on a separate sheet in the bulletin at the first of each month. All members approved this.

Fundraisers were discussed again for ways to make revenue. We will check with Fr. Eric to see if a room in the back building could be used to store items for a yard sale. There was also a discussion on whether the Parish should apply for grants for the Hispanics to cover extra operation expenses and such things as the Sound System which is really needed for Mass overflow. Will check with Fr. Eric regarding this. Fr. Mike Smith may have some suggestions since he has done the grants in the past.

Parishioners that have agreed to be on the Finance Committee are Bob Grose, Joe Sumner, Leo Ghelarducci and Dick Aliano.

Having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for March 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
