January 11th, 2011
Parish Council Meeting was held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Eric opened the meeting with prayer.
December Minutes were reviewed for corrections and were approved.
Members present: Mike Fuches, Phyllis Fuches, Andrew Ericksen, Lee Willis, Sharon White, Sandy Ghelarducci, Mary Ann Grose, Joseph Rodriguez, Rich Fetterman, Mary Walsh and Fr. Eric Filmer. Visitor: Dick Aliano.
OLD BUSINESS
- Spaghetti Supper: Dick Aliano went over plans for dinner. Mary Ann will be contacting all committee members for another meeting scheduled for Monday, January 17th, to make sure everything is in order for the dinner. They will meet with Faye Brock of the Presbyterian Church after the meeting for last minute details.
Fr. Eric stated due to the Spaghetti Supper, Thursday Mass will be changed to 12:15 p.m. The meat and cabbage has been ordered. Supplies for the dinner need to be consolidated to one storage area for next year. Hispanic Youth Group have offered to help work at the dinner. Some adults in the Parish will need to used flash lights to direct the traffic in the pickup line. Eat-ins will need to park on the south side of the Presbyterian church. - Stained Glass Windows: There was no news on the windows.
- Calendars: All 2011 calendars have been distributed. Bobby Cobb from Cobb Funeral Home has graciously paid for the calendars already.
- Sound System for Walsh Hall: Mary Ann has tried to contact the men from Albany, but they have not returned her call.
- Hot Water Heater: Replacement of the hot water heater in Walsh Hall will be placed on hold for now.
- Finance Committee: Mary Ann stated we need people from the Parish experienced in financing to be on the Finance Committee. Fr. Eric will be announcing in the bulletin that the Parish needs additional people to serve on the committee.
The committee with new members will plan to meet Wednesday, February 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Center. - Painting: Plans are still pending to begin a project to paint one room at a time in the Church.
NEW BUSINESS
- Master Email List: Mary Ann stated the need to have a master list of email addresses of the Parish in order to send out information frequently and when needed. We can also use this method to spread the word to ask Parishioners to pray for the sick. It will be way to reach out to Parishioners when they are needed.
- Shut-Ins: It was discussed that Parishioners that are homebound because of sickness or physical limitations are considered "shut-ins". When they are able to go out to restaurants, doctor visits, Walmart, etc., they are not considered "shut-ins". Fr. Eric will review the "shut-in" list.
Mary Ann mentioned that we need to do more when Parishioners get sick and down. We need to reach out more. She suggested that we need a Hospitality Committee and a Welcoming Committee for new Parishioners. We need cards placed in the foyer for Parishioners to fill out. - Confirmations: Confirmations will be held on May 7th and First Communions will be on Mother's Day, May 8th. Time of Confirmations will be announced later.
- Ladies' Guild: Thirty people have paid dues. Thirty dollars in food was given to the Serenity House. Will be visiting Sunrise Nursing Home. Next meeting is February 10th.
- Financial Report: Rich gave out the December, 2010 Finance Report to each committee member. Checking balance was $8,747.00 and Savings balance is $5,477.00. Expenditures was $629.09 more than collections received in December.
The bank balance for December was lower than October and November. We may have to take a loan from Diocese to cover required expenditures. A letter will be submitted to each Parishioner stating that the Parish is falling short of funds to cover expenses.
Utilities do not show the use of the timer yet. It was requested that Rich highlight "Budget Items" that are unusual expenses which may include more than one month expense. The contract for the copier includes toner. Janitorial cost includes the cleaning of all four buildings.
Having no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for February 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
