Parish Council Minutes

November 12th, 2009

 

The Parish Council Meeting was called to order by Father Eric Filmer on Monday, November 12, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Eric opened the meeting with the Holy Spirit prayer. Minutes were reviewed for corrections and were approved.

 

ATTENDANCE: Mike Fuches, Phyllis Fuches, Andrew Ericksen, Sandy Ghelarducci, Billy Ray Price, Joe Sumner, Brian Rollock, Father Eric Filmer, Richard Fetterman, and Mary Walsh.

 

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Stained Glass Windows - Fr. Eric has signed and mailed the contract and the first deposit. As he receives the selected Saint from each of the donators, he will send it to the contractor by the end of the month. Committee will review what has been paid and how much more funds are needed to be collected.

  3. Shadow Box - Fr. Eric showed the council the shadow box for Barbara Duffy’s memorabilia. Sandy stated she will purchase the glass for the shadow box. She and Mary Walsh will gather up the memorabilia for it.

  5. The Saint Mary statue has been straightened up by Joe Sumner and his men. As a service for the Church, a group the Hispanics cleaned the statue and also spray-washed the walkway in front of the church. Looks very nice.

 

 

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Bake Sale - Mary Walsh asked Andrew if he could put up the Bake Sale sign and also changing the date on the sign. Mary also asked Andrew to put out the cake and pie boxes in the social hall for Parishioners to pick up. The Bake Sale will be advertised in the paper. Will take cash if Parishioners can’t bake anything. Fr. Eric will talk to the Weight Watchers about changing their meeting time.

  3. Mary Walsh mentioned people using the Walsh Hall kitchen are not cleaning the dishes, etc. that they use. Coffee was spilled everywhere and sink filled with dirty dishes. Phyllis will put up a sign in English and Spanish stating the Parish does not have a maid service with along with instructions stating it is the users' responsibility to wash dishes and clean up kitchen after being used. Also, the big closet in Walsh Hall needs to be cleaned out.

  5. Andrew said Church lights need to be changed. Need to hire an electrician to change all lights at the same time. Mary will ask Phil who he has used before. Joe Sumner mentioned Issac Paulk would be a good electrician.

  7. Fr. Eric said he wanted to have a Potluck Dinner after Mass for the Lady of Immaculate Conception.

  9. Mary Walsh gave a report on the Ladies Guild. They have received dues from 23 ladies. Three boxes of goods were mailed to Iraq. One box will go to Mary Ryan's grandson. Also, Ladies Guild will be sponsoring a seminarian from Poland. Fifty dollars was given to the Food Bank. Thirty dollars will be given to one of the Parishioners for Thanksgiving.

  11. Richard Fetterman gave the Financial Report. Said $12,864 was in checking account and $10,092 in Savings. For the last three months in a row, expenses exceeded income received. Parish had to pay $3500 for an air compressor. Also, the deposit was made for the stained glass windows. Joseph needs to be sure to put the collections and expenses in the bulletin for the Parishioners.

  13. Mary said we have a updated roster of Parish members. Inactive members are not listed.

  15. Fr. Eric mentioned he still has to submit a drawing of the tabernacle shelf to the Diocese for approval.

 

 

Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned around 8:30 p.m. Next meeting is scheduled on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Eric closed the meeting with a prayer.
